Disciples Making Disciple Makers

Get to know more about what makes us different.

Here at GCC, we seek to live up to our calling of discipleship. To understand this calling, it is important to be clear on what we mean. For us here at GCC, these definitions are important in understanding our role in living up to that calling:
Disciple: Someone who is following Jesus, is being changed by Jesus, and is committed to the mission of Jesus.
Discipleship: The process of growing spiritually as a disciple of Jesus.
Disciple-Making: A disciple of Jesus who enters into relationships with people to intentionally help them follow Jesus, be changed by Jesus, and join the mission of Jesus.
This is it. The call of discipleship is simple. Our focus for adults is to live out this calling. Within the mission of God to restore all things to himself, our vision is to be Jesus to to Grinnel, Iowa, and beyond through the life of discipleship. As we follow after Jesus we will be changed as the Holy Spirit transforms us into the image of Christ.
What does this look like for adults? Well, it means that we are called to something simple but not easy. Because the call of discipleship goes outside of yourself. The Christian faith is not a personal matter. We have been called to so much more. For the life of discipleship necessitates being committed to the mission of Jesus through disciple-making. We are called to enter into relationships with people to intentionally help them follow Jesus, be changed by Jesus, and join the mission of Jesus.
This is why we prioritize relationships and community. We believe one-on-one discipleship and small groups are the vehicles to live out this calling of discipleship.
